Geldof and New Pencil

This was a fun sketch, and will probably be my next acrylic. The last few sketches I've posted have been with ordinary wood pencils, because last week I left my clutch pencil on the bus coming back from Scotland. I now realise how lost I feel without it, as I bought a new one today (see picture), and it's like putting on a comfortable pair of shoes. It's a Pentel Twist-Erase automatic pencil, with a 0.7mm HB lead.

hey Paul,

Is your old tech pencil purple by any chance? If so, you've not left it on the bus. He's safe.... for now! :)
Great Bob BTW.

Thanks Nelson, not sure what you mean about losing lines? It's all there.

Craig, no this was one the same as the one in the photo. I was drawing with it on the bus and left it on the seat.

Ahh righty, no idea where this purple one came from then, I thought it was yours? Condolences on your loss!

Seriously? You must have heard of the Boomtown Rats? Live Aid? Oh well, glad you like the sketch.

Thanks Nelson, I see what you mean.

That is a great caricature. Geldof looks like an Irish pelican.

A lot of people in America wouldn't know the Boomtown Rats. "I Don't Like Mondays" was their only hit here. They were a great band. I always thought Geldof's lyrics were amazing. "Diamond Smiles" and "I Never Loved Eva Braun", just to name two, were remarkable happy songs about exeptionally grim subjects. Between 1979 and 1981 I lived in England and bought everything the Rats put out.

wow what amazing talent!! love your caricaturing style, its so extreme and exaggerated with lots of appeal and cuteness, and definitely not grotesque, as some styles can be...

Hi Paul, This is a wonderful drawing of Bob....His lower jaw reminds me of a kangaroo pouch or Pelican, AWESOME WORK. I spent about 1.5 hours yesterday reviewing your blog and I've enjoyed every post.
