Timothy Spall

I rented Sweeney Todd last week, and didn't finish it, for two reasons. The first was the singing, for me there was too much, to the point where it became talking-singing, but the second was this shot of Timothy Spall. The sketchbook was out in a flash, and the acrylic I've just finished.

Spall is one of our best exports, and if you haven't seen 'Secrets and Lies' by Mike Leigh, then I highly recommend it. Leigh's best film IMHO.

Nice painting Paul! I rented the movie at the weekend and was fast asleep before the hour mark! I was really disappointed because I love Johnny Depp as an actor (and Tim Burton's direction) but the singing........waaaay to much singing.

Thanks for the comments guys. Ken, I agree, in fact there was a BBC version of the story on TV last night with Ray Winstone as Todd, no singing, better acting and better make-up.

Killer, thats nice with the dark muted colors, I like it a lot. I also really dig the Liam Nieson below, that is some fantastic shape making and a 3D feel from your paint work.
