Eddie and Frank for Radio Times

This was a little piece for the Radio Times a couple of weeks ago. Frank Skinner and Eddie Izzard on Radio 4 doing a show called 'Chain Reaction'. Doing another one for the Radio Times now, plus I've nearly finished a photoshop painting of Gordon Brown for the book (possibly my favourite piece so far). The book is so close to being finished!

Ismael Roldan- R.I.P

(self-caricature of Ismael)

This morning I discovered that my good friend Ismael Roldan has passed away. He was 45. I don't know the details of his death, but it has been confirmed on the ISCA forum where I first read the news. This is a very sad day. I only met him in person for the first time last year at the ISCA convention, and I am distraught that I will not get to meet him in person again. Since the convention, we have corresponded via email and telephone, sharing advice and experiences, and I was looking forward to a long friendship with him.

This is a sketch he drew of me whilst I drew him at the convention:

This is a terrible loss for the caricature world, he will be sorely missed! RIP Ismael!

New Cover Design!!

As mentioned in the previous post, delivery of the book once it's finished is going to take a while, this is after approval of proofs, which will also take time, so I will be delighted if the books are delivered before 30th October. The new cover design (image shown is the draft version) was created by Neil Davies, he did a great job.

New artwork for the book includes Gordon Brown acrylic, Charles Dickens acrylic, Liv Tyler digital, Ozzy Osbourne digital, Lemmy digital, Bill Murray watercolour, plus a tutorial on exaggeration, and new photography of older paintings. There are also some new sketches never before seen.

Sketch of David Op De Beeck

It's about time I posted some artwork on here because I can't show you any of the work for the book. Just a quick sketch for now.

BOOK UPDATE: I've found out that it will take over a month from finishing the book to them arriving on my doorstep, so I am dashing to get everything done, the plan is to have them in time for the ISCA convention at the beginning of November. It's going to be close!
